The year 2023 was declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Millets, to bring awareness of the millets to the world. Once a forgotten food, But nowadays we see many articles related to millet. Why are millets forgotten??? Before answering the question we focus on the benefits of millet. Millets contribute to a healthy diet that contains antioxidants, minerals, and proteins and they are gluten-free with a very low glycemic index. They are resistant to drought and tolerant to crop diseases and pests and they can grow in any adverse climatic condition. They require significantly less water to grow when compared to rice and wheat thereby benefitting the consumers, farmers, and the environment Coming to the answer why millets are forgotten??
